Two Weeks of Blue Apron: Was It Worth It?

We truly enjoy cooking in our home, and although I am very comfortable in the kitchen, I got to a point this fall where I was bored with the recipes I was currently making. I felt like we were eating the same 7-10 recipes every week. That's when we turned to Blue Apron! Blue Apron has allowed us to not only try new recipes but has also taken a significant amount of pressure off my shoulders when it comes to meal planning. I now only have to plan three or four meals, knowing in the back of my mind that my Blue Apron box will provide us with three meals delivered to our door!

What is Blue Apron?

Blue Apron is a subscription box that delivers pre-measured ingredients and recipes right to your door. Each box contains fresh ingredients and quality meats to create not only an incredible recipe, but one that can be easily prepared using their step by step instructions. They offer 2 plan options (2-Person Plan or the Family Plan) with no commitment or fees. The plans vary in price, depending on how many meals and servings you order.

What if I want to choose a different meal?

You can easily log into your account and change your upcoming meals. They have lots of options, including vegetarian dishes. Their website is very easy to navigate!

What if I want to skip a week or two?

You can do that all online, as well. You can choose to skip order up to 5 weeks in advance or cancel your subscription any time.

Is Blue Apron worth it?

There are two answers to this question. If you (and your family) are the type of people who enjoy eating out and trying new foods, Blue Apron would be right up your alley. Not only would it be significantly cheaper, but also a fun opportunity for you to cook together in your home. On the other side of that spectrum, if your family is on a tighter budget, it might not be the best choice for you. When we were making our decision about Blue Apron, I looked at our grocery budget and realized that doing Blue Apron wasn’t very far out of our weekly grocery budget. We decided to test it out and have loved each dish so much that to us, it is WORTH EVERY PENNY.

Another aspect of Blue Apron that I have really enjoyed is the portion sizes. I LOVE food. Like, probably to the point where it could be a problem in the future. I have had to make a conscious effort to make sure I am eating healthy and getting enough exercise. The point is, with Blue Apron, the portions are already weighed out for us. We chose the 2-Person Plan so that we wouldn’t have the option of having seconds. Each meal makes the exact amount we need and want without the bloated, guilty feeling afterwards. I truly believe that part of my recent weight loss could be attributed to not over eating at dinner anymore. I’m not say that Blue Apron is going to make you lose weight, I just really appreciate their portion sizes!

This blog post is not sponsored by Blue Apron, although I do receive a small commission for every box sold through my code. These are all my original opinions and thoughts about Blue Apron. I will only ever tell the truth about a product, like it or not!
