Brunch at the Commons, Woodinville, WA

If I could pick a favorite meal of the day, I would say brunch is the winner. Really, there is no competition. Something about it is so relaxing to me. What’s especially relaxing is when someone cooks’ brunch for you, which poses the question.

Why does food taste better when someone else makes it?

I’ve settled on the theory that if someone enjoys cooking for people, that food is made with love and therefore, must be more delicious. The Commons, in Woodinville, makes their dishes with that kind of love.

This cozy little café is one of my favorite brunch spots when I visit the big city. Just 20 miles northeast of downtown Seattle, the Commons sits in a little valley surrounded by lush gardens, wineries and even some breweries. I was introduced to this secluded café a few years ago by a friend and it was as delicious as I remembered. Last weekend, I was doing flowers for a wedding in the Woodinville area when I realized I was just minutes away from the Commons. It was the perfect (and only) chance to eat at this place. The restaurant choice was a no brainer!

We each ordered iced almond milk lattes (mine with vanilla and hers with honey lavender) and split a freshly baked cinnamon roll – because dessert for breakfast is a must! Anissa ordered the ham and egg breakfast sandwich and I ordered shakshuka - eggs poached in a spicy tomato sauce, topped with goat cheese and a side of toasty sourdough bread for dipping! It was splendid my friends.

I encourage you to check out their menu (I guaruntee it’ll be hard to choose what to order) and make a trip out there for breakfast, weekend brunch, lunch or even dinner!

Cheers to good brunch spots and even better friends!
