When you think "relaxing vacation", you don't usually picture spending a week with 19 relatives under one roof. I will tell you now, it was just what the doctor ordered and exactly what I needed.
My grandparents celebrated 60 years of marriage this year and chose to celebrate in true White family fashion: a whole family vacation! We stayed in this gorgeous nine bedroom beach house (more like mansion) in Neskowin, Oregon. It's the perfect little town, halfway between Lincoln City and Pacific City. Beach houses and a small grocery store make up this town, and it could be the small town life inside of me talking, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
It's so peaceful and secluded here.
The last time my whole family was together was not only before I was a married women, but in fact five years ago. Before my nephews were born, before I knew Dylan, before my adult life began.
Crazy to think that I'm now forming adult relationships with my relatives who once knew me in diapers!
It was truly a blessing spending time with my family, playing cornhole, cooking together (each couple picked a night to make dinner for the whole family), and sitting around the campfire eating way too many smores.
One morning, we surprised my sister with a family baby shower. As a family, we've only been able to celebrate each of her babies from afar so I thought, "There's no opportunity like the present!". I planned the shower about a month before the trip, communicating with members of our family, sharing her baby registry and organizing a meal. I decided to go with a brunch theme. We baked quiches, cut up fresh fruit, set up a mimosa bar (non-alcoholic for the expectant Momma) and I embraced my inner Joanna Gaines by making biscuits and gravy from the famous Magnolia Table cookbook.
After brunch, the Momma-to-be opened gifts, we made our birth date predictions, and each took our turn at the onesie decorating station. This onesie was decorated by my 4 year old nephew for his new baby brother or sister!
The rest of our trip was just as enjoyable. We spent most of our time at the house, relaxing on the beach.
I'd say the little ones had some fun too!
If you're in the area and looking for an adventure, check out the sand dunes in Pacific City! It's quite the up hill adventure, but after you've worked up a sweat, grab a bite to eat at Pelican Brewing Co. on the water. Great food, great drinks, and a great view!
About 15 minutes south of Neskowin is Lincoln City. You'll find all the typical city stores, Safeway, Walgreens, and Starbucks if you're a coffee addict like me- although I'd much prefer a local shop called Mojo Coffee! There are also some great outlet stores to help if you need some retail therapy.
When planning your next trip, check out AllTheRooms for affordable accommodations in Lincoln City. Their expert data team has put together a guide where travelers can find the necessary information for booking a vacation in Lincoln City. From things to do, affordable accommodation close to downtown, vacation rentals with a pool or jacuzzi, and pet-friendly accommodations, their guide has everything travelers need to plan their trip. I'm already looking forward to our next visit to this beautiful coastline!
